Priors Field welcomes boarders, weekly boarders and day girls to our happy, thriving community. Boarders are looked after by the Housestaff outside school hours. Bedrooms have all recently been refurbished and are generally for between two and four girls, with 4th and 5th formers having single study bedrooms. Sixth form boarders reside in a separate Sixth form house which has been extended to include 20 en-suite study bedrooms, where they lead more independent lives under the supervision of the resident Sixth Form Housemistress. Throughout the boarding houses the emphasis is on friendliness, helpfulness and the creation of a caring environment.
The juniors follow a general curriculum including Spanish, Computer Studies, Art, Craft, Music, Drama and Technology, as well as all the 'core' subjects. The seniors are prepared for GCSE and 'A' level with a choice of about 23 subjects. In the Sixth form minority subjects are also available. Girls are prepared for Oxbridge entrance, other Universities, Art College, and other areas of higher education. Careers advice is included in the timetable for all girls at the points in their school life where choices have to be made. Visits are arranged to university open days, speakers are invited from a wide range of professions, and fifth formers are encouraged to gain work experience. Girls with minor dyslexic problems are given individual support. A second ICT Suite has been added.
A new sports hall opened in January 2001 and the main hall was transformed into a dramatic arts centre in August 2004. The dining room has been refurbished and new catering facilities installed. A new Science wing opened in September 2006 incorporating four new laboratories and a new Library opens in September 2007. Hockey, netball, swimming, tennis, athletics and rounders are our main games, but there are many opportunities for other sports as well. The school is situated in 25 acres, where there are extensive sports pitches and an athletics track. Tennis coaching is available throughout the year. There are 46 after school clubs and activities and visits to local sports centres in Guildford and Godalming.
A few places are available annually for academic girls whose first language is not English. EFL provision is arranged.
