Windermere St Anne's is an independent coeducational boarding and day school based in the heart of the Lake District.

The philosophy of the School centres on the individual within the community. A nurturing environment exists, with extremely supportive staff and pupil relationships set against a culture of challenge. This helps create a caring, lively, family atmosphere with mutual trust and respect within the school. Amongst the pupils, this ethos produces independence, individual responsibility, and a sense of adventure towards discovery and learning. This equips pupils with not only the skills for teamwork and leadership but also a sense of citizenship and a genuine desire for global understanding.

Windermere St Anne's has probably one of the most enviable locations for a school. Situated above the lake of Windermere overlooking the central fells of Cumbria. The school is set in over eighty acres of wooded, landscaped parkland.

The school campus is equipped with excellent sports facilities, four modern science laboratories and an Information and Communication Technology and Resource Centre. Recent developments include a new boarding house and a Design Technology facility. The Jenkins Centre for the Performing Arts contains the Dance Studio, specialist music and practice rooms, the Holst Recital room whilst the new drama studio is in the main building. Music, Dance and Drama productions take place in the 300-seat theatre in Crampton Hall. The Art Studio is equipped with a suite of rooms for Fine Art, Ceramics, Textiles, Computer Design and Digital Film Making.

Our lakeside frontage with boathouse, harbour and pavilion is a special feature of the school. It plays an integral part in our outdoor education and leadership programme. The school is a recognised Royal Yachting Association teaching centre. Fell-walking and camping are regular activities, which are reinforced by the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

As well as orchestras, sports teams, choirs and outdoor pursuits there is a wide range of activities provided outside the academic curriculum. The diversity is reflected in interests pursued - from Science Club to Electronics, from Swimming to Aerobics, from Conservation to Horse Riding, from Poetry to Journalism, from Cookery to Art Club, from Young Enterprise to Stock Market analysis. Windermere St Anne’s Preparatory School, Elleray, takes children aged from 2 – 11, with boarding available from age 8.
